Jobs Junction

Whipps Cross is dedicated to ensuring the local population is represented within the workforce. Jobs Junction is an on-site job brokerage service in partnership with Job Centre Plus and winner of Best Hospital Job Brokerage 2006 for the North East London Sector.

The service supports the following:

  • Individual guidance and group workshops on all recruitment needs
  • Promoting local people into employment
  • CV and application support
  • Career guidance and follow up support
  • Supporting local people to be part of a team that makes a difference
  • Ensuring all staff have access to the NHS ‘Skills Escalator’ programme


Jobs Junction also manage a number of pre-employment courses funded by 'Partners in Health II' an external European Social Fund supported project managed by the Trust's Regeneration Team.

Pre-Employment Health Enhancement Courses – PEHEC

The PEHEC programme is vacancy led and works with people who have previously applied for jobs at Whipps Cross University Hospital but were unsuccessful at interview.

  • Courses are matched with vacancies so that permanent employment is a possible outcome for clients.
  • Courses are designed to provide candidates with job-specific information, training and interview skills.
  • Flexible in design, the scheme offers departments job-ready candidates who have a clear understanding of their role and what it means to work in a healthcare environment.
  • The Jobs Junction team monitor client progress on the PEHEC programme and source suitable employment and training opportunities.
