JJCPCT public meeting - the findings
The findings from the Health for north east London consultation were formally presented at a meeting of the joint committees of primary care trusts held in public on 13 July.
The committees heard presentations from Ipsos MORI on the independent analysis of the consultation responses and from Article 13 on the engagement with traditionally under-represented groups. The findings from the Integrated Impact Assessment and the views of the Inner and Outer north east London JOSCs and People’s Platforms were also presented.
A short consultation video on how we consulted on the proposals and a video of local clinicians explaining the proposals and the benefits for the local population were also shown at the meeting.
Over 130 people attended including members of the public, LINks, People’s Platforms, councillors, clinicians and other local stakeholders. Attendees had the opportunity to review the findings, ask questions and were invited to witness the formal meeting of the joint committees.
All papers, videos and presentations are available to view on our website: http://www.healthfornel.nhs.uk
What happens now?
We are listening carefully to what the public has told us in their consultation responses. Over the coming months we will be working with clinicians to review the programme and consider all the comments and suggestions received during the consultation. No decisions will be made until after this review.
We welcome the opportunity to review the work so far and to strengthen engagement with GPs, local authorities, staff, patients and the public. We intend to hold a clinical event and a stakeholder event in September 2010.
If you would like to register your interest in attending these events please email: healthfornel@thpct.nhs.uk or call: 0207 092 5333. If you would like to attend the clinical event please include your role and organisation.
Health4nel - the background
A review of services provided by Trusts in Outer North East London.
Known as Health4nel (Healthcare for North East London) the review will result in a set of options about the future provision of health services in the sector which will form part of a public consultation process.
All NHS organisations in NEL have committed to working together on the review to support its the common aims of:
There are four main reasons that change is required in NEL:
What will the review mean for Whipps Cross?
At its early stages it was unclear what direct impact it will have on Whipps Cross University Hospital NHS Trust.
However the outcome of the Health4NEL review is especially relevant to Whipps Cross as its outcome may have considerable bearing on our journey to achieving Foundation Trust status.
As the consultation contiues more information will become available.
Six Major Service Areas of the Health4NEL review
The six service areas within the review were formulated by the Medical Directors, PCT PEC Chairs and Acute Provider Trusts and were ratified by all NEL Chief Executives.
The case for change was developed with Medical Directors and PEC Chairs from October – December 2008.
The review is clinically led and 45 clinicians from both primary care and hospitals are engaged in the workstreams.
Clinical working group members have been involving their colleagues in every organisation to gather, verify assumptions and discuss recommendations.
Launch of Public Consultation
The major public consultation was launched 30 November and will continue for 14 weeks until 8 March 2010 - this was extended until 22 March.
The consultation will give local residents, patients, stakeholders and other interested organisations an opportunity to give their views on new proposals to significantly improve healthcare in their local communities.
Public meetings and roadshows were held in every borough, to give members of the public the opportunity to find out about the proposals, ask questions and have their say.
Organisational response
The Trust submitted an organisational response to the consultation which was included as part of the February Trust Board meeting held on 26 February 2010.
