Whipps Cross University Hospital

Whipps Cross Hospital now offers all day case and inpatient admissions single sex accommodation and bathroom facilities that are fully compliant with the guidance issued from the Department of Health.

All of our wards and departments provide either:

• Care for patients of a single gender (i.e. men or women) or;
• Care for both men and women in separated bays to ensure single sex sleeping accommodation, bathrooms and toilets

Our Intensive Care and Coronary Care Units are the only exceptions which cannot be separated into male or female areas.  This is because the bed area is open plan to promote patient safety for these critically ill patients. 

Nevertheless all patients can expect to receive care which promotes their privacy and dignity as an absolute priority.
