THE TRUST

Foundation status

Whipps Cross University Hospital NHS Trust is changing.

We are increasingly working in a more business like manner to ensure that our patients receive the best care we can provide in the most efficient way.

As part of this on-going work we are developing more sophisticated business plans than ever before. We are also looking to further extend the excellent relationships we have with our loyal and supportive local community through better public and patient involvement.

This work is essential because once complete we will be able to take the next very important step on the Trust’s journey of improvement – applying to become a Foundation Trust.

All NHS Trusts in England will become Foundation hospitals and although Whipps Cross has not started the formal process of applying for this status we want to get a head start for when we do and find out if you want to be involved.

NHS Foundation trusts are a new kind of organisation with stronger links to local communities and greater independence to develop services in line with the needs of local people and patients.

Foundations trusts are accountable, via elected representatives, to a group of people called members.  Members can be patients, their carers, people from the local community and hospital staff.

Becoming a member is a chance for local people and staff to show their support for Whipps Cross and an opportunity to play a key role in its future.

If in the future you are interested in becoming a member of what would be Whipps Cross University Hospital Foundation Trust then please email Foundation@whippsx.nhs.uk with the following details.
