Our dedicated Eye Treatment Centre provides a one stop service for patients.
We hold general and specialist outpatient clinics.
The Outpatient department includes six fully equipped clinical examination rooms, two casualty rooms, three pre-assessment rooms, two laser rooms, clinical photography room, three orthotists rooms and two optometry rooms.
We also have an eye casualty - walk in service, where in an emergency patients can self-refer to the centre and sit and wait to be seen by a doctor.
Any patients who require further treatment or surgery will undergo a pre-operative assessment, which can often be done on the same day as their outpatient appointment.
This is nurse led, reviewing the date for surgery, making sure the patient is fit and well enough and providing patients with all the information they need and making sure all consent forms and completed.
We have high day case rates for eye surgery and procedures, with twin ophthalmology theatres run by our consultants every week day morning.

Along with a Vitreoretinal Clinical Fellow, Associate Specialist,Senior Clinical Fellow, two TG Trust Grade Registrars, two Specialist Registrars, two Trainee doctors.

The Eye Treatment Centre is located next to the Outpatients Department in the Yellow Zone. It has a separate entrance from Hospital Road.

You will need to be referred by your GP (General Practitioner) or Optician. This can been done through the choose and book system.
In an emergency patients can self refer to the walk in service or may be referred via A&E.
